Myths, legends and stories are the heart of almost every culture. Not only are they valued for their literary merit but they also give us a glimpse into past times, places and practices. Universally most story books have common threads such as gods and man, nature and man and even the occasional romance. Aotearoa Maori stories are especially rich in detailing with the top of man verse Gods and lessons of humility and tradition. Some have a factual origins while others are completely fictional but all stories are tales that help to explain the world and mans experience in it.
